#1634 qt4-gui with buddy icons sometimes uses 100% CPU qt4-gui 1.3.7 defect 05/20/08

Using the latest svn version, I get 100% CPU for one certain user, when using buddy icons in the message window. The CPU goes to 100% when I open a message window for this certain user. For other users with buddy icons, everything seems fine. The CPU load stays when I close the message window. Attached is a callgrind logfile that can be analysed with kcachegrind.

#1370 "edit groups" is well hidden qt4-gui 1.3.7 enhancement 08/24/06

The edit group function is very well hidden under the user section. Nobody expects the edit groups function in a subsection labled "users". I suggest you should move it under groups. Add a new seperator at the bottom and move it below the seperator.

#1530 Serverside contact-list damaged after moving users from one group to another licq daemon 1.3.7 defect 08/16/07

Hi there,

I'm using Ubuntu 6.06 LTS and the newest version of licq there is 1.3.2-5. In the past I was using GAIM but some weeks ago I decided to give another ICQ-client a try, so I installed licq.

After installing I'd done two things. I'd started licq and rearranged the users (as they'd appeared twice. First in group "New Users" and second in their server group. So I'd deleted their entry in group "New User") and then closed licq. After that I'd started GAIM and now there were missing users of one group. All other groups seemed to be untouched, but one group's members were completely missing. I'd closed GAIM and started licq again. Here all users had been there where I left them.

As the affected users still had been in the licq contact list, I'd moved them here from one group to another. The network windows had displayed something like "user does not exist in serverside contact list. Adding user to group awaiting authorization" (I was using a german version, so I cannot give the correct translation. Sorry for that.)

It seems the users (to be moved from group A to B) had been deleted on the determined server group A but adding them to group B had failed for not having a group called B on the serverside contactlist. Or they'd been already deleted from the server's list, when I was rearranging my contactlist (as I wrote before).

I've tried to find something referring to this issue, but I didn't find anything close to that neither on google nor in the tickets base here. Seems to be an uncommon problem... :-/

#511 crash on opening message message defect 02/03/04

I have received a regular message that crashes licq every time I try to read it. When I open licq again the message is still there waiting for me to read it. When I click on the user that sent the message, my last sent message opens. Since the message is still waiting to be read, I close that last sent message and click the user's name again. Licq crashes again. I tried today's daily build and it did the same.

Strangely enough, I can look in the message history and see the message and it looks normal to me.

#597 History can be saved in many different encodings message 2.0.0 defect 09/21/04

Hello,

My friend sent me a message using UTF-8. But my encoding was set to something else (chinese). When I changed the encoding to UTF-8, the message was correctly displayed using UTF-8, but the top pane which shows the message summary was not updated, and still shows (bogus) chinese characters instead of UTF-8.

Please see attached screenshot.

#700 Buddys see me offline even if i am online None 1.3.7 defect 03/11/05

This problem applies to the stable version 1.3.0 and the CVS snapshot as of 2005-03-11. Version 1.2.7 works fine.

My configuration is LICQ using Suse Linux 8.0 behind a Firewall with a HTTPS proxy. I can connect normally and see all my online buddies just fine. BUT - my buddies see me as offline, even if i am online. I can chat with them anyway and it is one of them reported, that he receives a "user is online" notification but my status stays offline. My buddies use LICQ 1.2.7 and Miranda.

Digging a bit around trying to localize the problem i noticed that while chatting with my buddies every message send be *me* to one of my online buddies creates a "user is offline - message gets transfered later" warning by the server in the LICQ network log. They receive my message immediately though.

The log shows no warnings/errors when i (successfully) login. Dont hesitate to contact me if I can help to locate the bug (i suspect it is a bug).

#435 Auto Request Secure ssl 1.3.7 defect 05/13/03

It doesn't work in 1.2.6. Remote client: sim-icq 0.8.1, supports ssl. OS: FreeBSD 4.8-RELEASE

btw, why don't add sim-icq into list of clients which understand SSL?

#456 licq abuses internal curses structures build None defect 06/20/03

licq abuses internal curses structures instead of using the API. Besides being bad programming practice, this makes it fail to build with NetBSD's native curses.

The attached patch (against 1.2.6) works fine with ncurses-5.3 and NetBSD's curses. Please commit.

#546 can receive not send file transfer None defect 06/04/04

#686 MSN plugin fails to reconnect after network move msn None defect 01/14/05

I log off Licq, suspend and move my laptop from home to work every day. Each time I try to log on after a move I get: 08:12:43: [MSN] Server found at 0.0.0.0:0. 08:12:43: [MSN] Connect failed.

Retrying doesn't help, but restarting Licq does. I also testet reloading the plugin, which also fixed the problem. I noticed this line in netstat a while after logging off: tcp 0 0 192.168.4.10:57143 207.46.107.44:1863 TIME_WAIT

Running current CVS (14. january - 2005) on Fedora Core 1

#724 Not In List users can't be added to list. system 1.3.7 defect 05/21/05

#750 Autoresponce message wasn't save correctly qt-gui None defect 07/21/05

Autoresponce message in the settings - status page don't display correctly after saving if locale != messages charset. Another icq clients display responce messages from me with the ? chars too.

I use: Locale: ru_RU.KOI8-R Messages charset: CP1251 (with specific belarussian chars) Messages language: Belarussian

#752 First message to user encoding message None defect 07/21/05

Sometimes first message to user that is in contact list was send in system locales (KOI8-R) encoding, not default (CP1251) (the ~/.licq/users/xxxxxxxxx.Licq file content the UserEncoding? = CP 1251 string, where xxxxxxxxx - users UIN). But next message always send in CP1251.

CVSsnap date: 200506xx- 20050720 Qt-gui Reprodueced when messages sent via server and directly

#1408 MSN messages send, but not disappear from desktop, thus no history entry. msn 1.3.7 defect 10/05/06

My message windows are setup so they close after the message is sent. MSN messages don't always self close. If the chat window doesn't self close, the message isn't written to the chat history. Also, this makes me wonder if the message was even received by the receipant. Most of the time, I think they are received.

This bug affects 1.3.2, 1.3.4 RC 1 and 2 and I believe it affected 1.3.0.

#1438 online time licq daemon 1.3.7 defect 10/28/06

oh, there is something else, i don't know if defect or task ... it seems to me a little bit unrealistic if an user should stay *online* for 1920 weeks ( ans some days ) :-) but licq tells me that .. until now only with one user.. but a friend ( licq devel-version, too ) tells me it happened to him, too.

greetings

#1471 special custom auto response licq daemon 1.3.7 defect 01/03/07

Hi, as far as I realized with Licq 1.3.4 is the option "special auto-response" not working correctly. With Licq 1.3.2 I did not have such problems, but now (even using the snapshot 20061228) it still remains. It doesn't matter weater I'm "online" or "away". Especially when I'm "away" and for some users want to set a custom auto-response, they just do see me normal away-message or in case my status is "online" they see nothing. I testet it with icq 5.1 and miranda im an both the same. If it helps, im using Licq in german.

#1622 Licq reports contact as online after fetching away message licq daemon 1.3.7 defect 04/07/08

Getting an auto response request from a contact that is away or invisible will wrongly change status for that contact to online visible.

Example: Alice and Bob are both away. Alice fetches Bob's away message. Bob now sees Alice as online even though she's still away and other contacts still see Alice as away. If Alice was invisible, Bob also sees her as visible without the invisible icon.

Alice's network log:

21:41:04: [SRV] Requesting auto response from Bob.
21:41:04: [SRV] Auto response from Bob (#94).

Bob's network log:

21:41:04: [TCP] Alice (12345678) is Online to us.
21:41:04: [SRV] Alice (12345678) requested auto response.

This happens when both Alice and Bob are using Licq. Problem was not reproducable if either Alice or Bob was using Trillian.

#1165 [WISH]: Secure file transfer. None None enhancement 12/21/00

I have not checked the latest version yet, so forgive me if this has already been added (the changelog at licq.org/CHANGELOG seems unupdated since 0.85):

It would be just great if files transferred from one user to the other (after being authenticated for the SSL connection) be sent using the same SSL channel aswell.

#1195 [wish] control over what soundfile is played for ChatBeep None None enhancement 01/23/01

I like to use a different sound than the annoying beep used when someone wants to get your attention while in chat mode. It would be nice if I could set the audio file like I can several others currently. It would also be nice if it could be activated using CTRL + g.

#1198 [wish] File transfer better control None None enhancement 01/24/01

I think it would be great if there was a button in the file-transfer window which would allow to skip a file at user's request. Currently it is either you go through all the download or you cancel it alltogether.

Regards, Ino

#1209 chat LOL :-) brings up licq errors None None enhancement 02/02/01

when people on icq99b/2000 windows versions and do the LOL :-) with sounds it makes licq bring up 1 error each time they do it

#1222 Sleep mode in chat not there None None enhancement 02/20/01

Something that's been around for Windows ICQ since day one is a sleep mode. That is, you can ask the ICQ chat window will remain minimised unless and until the other party starts typing to you again. This is very useful, and sorely missed.

#1338 There should be something like netdetect None None enhancement 08/25/01

There should be a tool like the netdetect from the windows-icq. The tool stays in Tray and runs icq, when the user goes online.

#573 Group Mode 2 qt/kde gui None enhancement 08/18/04

From the bug report page by Anonymous: I really like it to have all the offline users grouped together in the lower part of the window, and in the upper part the online users, all sorted by their respective groups. ( I think its called group mode 2 or so in the official client, did not use it for a long time)

#633 Various Feature Requests None None enhancement 11/06/04

I tried to submit a feature request by following your link, but I saw SF's *Permission Denied* message. So I decided to write my request here.

I'm migrating from SIM (sim-icq.sf.net) to LICQ because SIM project is dying, and there are lots of bugs they don't want to fix. But there are some features of SIM I would like in LICQ:

  1. Save status changes to history.
  2. Some button to switch *Show offline users*,
  3. Weather forecast plugin in Sim is very nice ..
  4. SPAM FILTER!! Sim can filter messages from NEW users (not in contact list) using user-defined filter string as "'sex' '*.com' '*.ru' 'pay'".
  5. Option "Open and minimize chat window on incoming message"
  6. Sound On/Off switch in chat window
  7. Custom sounds for different users
  8. Invisibilty check in Sim is extremely useful..

sorry for my awful English ...

#741 check invisible not longer working None None enhancement 06/28/05

is it me or does somebody else have the same problems? is a real great feature i dont wanna miss.....

#745 Dockable like ICQ in Windows qt/kde gui None enhancement 07/07/05

Hi,

is it possible, make LICQ dockable like ICQ in Windows? I like the function, that i can dock the ICQ Window on the right or left border and other windows will be displayed a little bit smaller.

Theoretical such a function should be possible because the kde kicker panel does the same on the lower or upper border. I would be very thankful if some one could it make possible. This is one of the last things which keep me from using only linux/kde.

Greets, p7

#753 away-messages like "|" processing qt/kde gui None enhancement 08/12/05

I would really like to have support for redirecting output of external program as message to user. Something like this away message: I'm away

but with ability to do it during normal messageing. I tried to find such feature but didn't succeed. If I missed something..sorry

if I didn't explain it properly please contact me on icq no. 74274152

#761 trim message licq daemon None enhancement 09/06/05

it is annoying, when i receive a message from a windows user. windows-icq sends an extra CRLF at the end of the message.

it looks like this:

#776 Dock icon functions and tooltip qt/kde gui None enhancement 10/04/05

Hi,

1. It would be very nice to place more info about pending messages to dock icon tooltip:

  • the name of the contact, who sent this message, not

only the count. e.g.: 1 msg from Peter 3 msgs from Carol

2. make dock icon to behave like the "Task bar" entries when you click on it (left mouse button):

- it should check if the main window: is not minimized AND is covered by some other window

and if it is so then just rise the window above others

It will fix the feature that you need to click twice on the dock icon to get the main window rised.

Thanx guys.

#780 Autologin to server. licq daemon None enhancement 10/07/05

When connect unstable, then autologin is great thing!

#792 feature reqest: separate auto-logon option for msn None None enhancement 10/23/05

There seems to be only one option for "Auto-Logon".

It auto-connects both ICQ and MSN on startup. ICQ is ok, but for MSN I want to say offline, until I connect manually.

#818 GPG signature verification None None enhancement 12/12/05

Hello,

It would be great to have Licq enforce gpg signing and

verification for encrypted messages between two users.

On a related note, it would be perfect if to color-code messages between two parties who have setup gpg encryption for their messages to eachother as to show if messages are INDEED encrypted and or not as well as if the signature has been validated or NOT. What I mean is that if Licq was expecting an encrypted message from a user but it came cleartext, change the background of the message window to RED, or if the message came encrypted byt not SIGNED, also change it to RED. If the message came encrypted and signed (with the correct key) set the background of the message window to, for example, BLACK.

Thanks for making Licq a reality, I've been a user for many years now.

Thanks!

#822 option to override transmitted colors of aim-users qt/kde gui None enhancement 01/13/06

Well.... my request is an option-field, so I can choose to override the color-settings, an aim-user is transmitting me. The sense: I have one or even more contacts who use extremely strange colors in their aim, like green for background and yellows for text. For them I would like to have an option, so my settings override theirs, and I can read their messages. Thanks a lot, Fabian <fabian2_de@…>

#824 Spellcheck qt-gui None enhancement 01/29/06

It will be nice, if you build a spellcheck tool for the GUI.

#833 ICQ DC protocol version / Xtraz licq daemon 1.3.7 enhancement 03/17/06

It will be very good, if the next release of LICQ will use 10 version of DC protocol with extended status icons support.

#1629 LicqWebPlugin new features None 1.3.7 enhancement 05/02/08

I am missing some features in LicqWebPlugin interface like

  • easy window focus switching
  • window resizing
  • history browsing

I have attached patch implementing focus switching and window resizing. Also a small glitch with bad "Not Available" status image fixed.

Licq Web Plugin seems to be unmaintained (last change 2 years ago). Is there any developer responsible for this project?

#1592 AIM<->ICQ info licq daemon 1.3.7 task 11/24/07

Please inspect why any info requests between AIM owner and ICQ contact (and vice-versa) are not answered by the server.

#1345 Too long away message licq daemon None defect 09/03/01

If away message is to long : *** *Licq Segmentation Violation Detected. * Backtrace: *licq(licq_handle_sigsegv+0x83) [0x809226f] */lib/libpthread.so.0 [0x4011f567] */lib/libc.so.6 [0x401d7738] *Attempting to generate core file. *** At start up.

A good idea would check that the away message is not to long before setting it.

Version: licq-1.0.3-1

#459 Hard to use weird characters in text-mode console None defect 06/25/03

I've been using the console mode quite a bit recently, and there's one person whose name contains characters that mess up the screen, and that I can't possibly type (even by trying to copy/paste directly from the username). Rather than going by UIN, it would be nice if there was an option for anything other than [\w\s] to be stripped, and duplicate names dealt with by appending [0], [1], [2], etc. So foo{complicated_character_string}bar would become foobar[0]

Cheers, James

#875 unable to transfer directories None None enhancement 03/29/00

file transfer does not work if you are accepting/(sending?) directories.

this is the message from network log:

#560 Autrequest Autoreply licq daemon None enhancement 07/29/04

When a user's status changes to an away mode, automatically get the auto-response. It can then be seen as a tooltip.

#1253 Store status in file None None enhancement 04/03/01

If LICQ will store its status in file, it will be usefull for external "status-flowers".

#1294 Licq should support removing ICQ account None None enhancement 06/10/01

Today I found myself wanting to remove some old icq accounts that I have created, but noticed that I couldn't find a way to do so with licq. I went to icq.com page, and it included instructions for doing this with the windows client.

Is this feature hard to implent?

#1318 Mirabilis ICQ History Database Converter None None enhancement 07/19/01

History database conversion from Mirablis ICQ to

LICQ history database would definitely encourage more users to switch to LICQ and Linux.

A lot of people are bounded (including me ) to use

WinBlows? because there isn't any history database conversion tools that allows me to switch to LICQ because i need to maintain my history database that is currently stored under Mirabilis ICQ.

#680 Picture thumbnails in contact list qt-gui 1.3.7 enhancement 01/07/05

It would be very nice to have thumbnailed pictures of the contacts in the contact list. It can really to quicker identify people on a large contact list.

Thanks in advance. ;)

#1360 Re-engineer CBuffer licq daemon 2.0.0 task 08/20/06

The CBuffer class (src/buffer.cpp and include/licq_buffer.h) should be rewritten. All Oscar/ICQ related functions should be removed and placed in the ICQ plugin in a CICQBuffer class.

Also the CBuffer uses a static buffer at the moment. The new class should use a dynamicaly sized buffer, that will resize itself when writing to it (operator <<). It has to support the pack/unpack functions for byte-sex conversion, since this is used for ICQ and other protocols most likely.

The idea would be to make it exception-safe and to use an STL structure as the underlying data structure to make it dynamic. Precomputing the size, as it is necessary now, is a major problem and is counter-intuitive for plugins.

#803 console plugin does not find CDK in non-standard location build 1.3.7 defect 11/04/05

Hi,

I had great trouble getting the console plugin to compile with libcdk installed in a non-standard location. There is no --with-cdk= option in configure, and passing LDFLAGS and CFLAGS to configure did not seem to work. I finally compiled it manually, which worked fine, but an --with-cdk option would be very useful.

#1237 Compiler specific options in Makefile.am build 1.3.7 defect 03/14/01

Please remove compiler specific options from all Makefile.am. Specifically, a "-Wall" was confusing the MIPSpro Compiler (on an Irix system).

That can be solved along the line of:

find licq-source-dir -name Makefile.am | xargs perl -pi -e 's/-Wall//g'

Thanks. Roland
