Status update of contact list

My Contact-list shows sometimes user as online ( in any state ) even if they are offline for a long time.

ok. don't know which hints i could give in this case..

same here.

there is one hint: it seems to have to do something with how the contact went offline. e.g. it happens usualy when the computer was disconnected from the net before the contact was manualy signed out.

What means "disconnected"? does it mean pull out the plug ( or closing the dialer, thougt in age of Routers everywhere only less people will be still using that. Does it include shutdown of Operating system, too ? i'll try some cases out
