Text invisible after "<" sign

Description

during chatting with an AIM User, i encountered the following situations : if I type the sign "<", all the text after this is not displayed to me. My chat-partner can normally read and answer. If this sign is the first in the whole message, none of the letters is displayed. If the sign is in the middle, the Message is displayed to me until this sign, the rest disappeared.

Can you give an example text which does not work? I did not manage to reproduce this behavior.

half text visible :
"He's stupid <- My opinion"
because of i saw only
"He's stupid"
i wrote
"<- My Opinion"
again ,and it was not diplayed to me but to my chat-partner, so he wondered what i would do.
( "" is the typed text, but without the "") imho it means all text since "<" isn't visible anymore, and if it is the first letter, nothing is visible

I could not reproduce this either... Even with the string you gave.

Does it happen only with msn partners? If it happens irregardless of the protocol you use, I'd think that something is wrong with emoticon parsing.

What emoticon set do you use? Was it ever modified?

Please try to turn off all emoticons and test it again.

it happens with AOL instant messenging, not Microsoft .. or is this the same ? *don't know *

With ICQ- Partners, everything works and I see original the same that i've written. It's only with AIM Partners

emoticon - set is standard and i didn't modify anything
