Description

problem with the german translation on systems using unicode I have made a screenshot to show you the problem. It is only on my gentoo system with is compiled woth unicode support. On my other gentoo system without unicode support everything looks fine. The Problem is only in the status section of the guy so I thin it can be fixed before 1.3.2 is released.

Hi,

I've additions to this. I'm using slackware with and without a utf8 default lang in the kernel. But that doesn't matter at all. I noticed that messages with german umlauts get truncated while communicating with certain clients. Mac OS X for example. Various clients from miranda to the "aol original" icq were used. So I think the receiving OS forces utf16 somehow and that doesn't work at all on my side. I'm using iso8859-1 as default encoding. UTF8 is the "highest" unicode level I can get here with slackware-current/slamd64-current.

I've been told that problem has been fixed in the CVS-tree but so far no change at all.

Clemens

Hi again,

sorry I forgot to mention. The messages from me to the "utf16 systems" get truncated just from the umlaut on. Like (deleted due to utf incompatibility) the receiving client.

Bye,

Hi once again,

I just found out that messages with umlauts are _not_ truncated while fully "online". If I go inv+online then messages are cut off at the umlaut!

So that indicates the invisible-mode messes the msgs up somehow.

Hth,

Clemens
